“The course has helped me reconnect with the outside world after a period of being very isolated. It has also helped me physically, as I can take part at a pace that I am able to manage.
Most importantly, HorseWorks feels like a haven for people experiencing mental health difficulties. It is a place where I feel free from the judgement and stigma I can experience in the ‘normal’ world. There is an unspoken understanding between everyone here, despite our differences, and that has made a real difference to me.”

“B. really enjoyed the course and has definitely become more confident. We’ve seen them take things they learned at HorseWorks into everyday life, with a massive improvement in their engagement.
They no longer talk about not wanting to go to school, and they’ve made new friends there. It has also helped them become more open to engaging with other support. We’ve been really pleased to see the positive changes.”

“TheHorseCourse and HorseWorks have been a lifeline for me. I’ve learned a lot about interpersonal skills through working with the ponies and other volunteers, as well as developing practical work skills that I can take into future employment. Volunteering has boosted my confidence, and the continuous support has really helped me. It has also been a positive part of my journey towards greater independence, particularly when moving into supported accommodation.”
